The countdown to spring is on! After a few years away, we’re thrilled to announce that The CAT is back! That’s right, the high-speed CAT ferry is returning to service in 2022. At just 3.5 hours, it’s the fastest and most entertaining way to travel between Maine and Nova Scotia. We can’t wait to welcome you back aboard to enjoy incredible ocean views, fresh and local dining options, and attentive service. While The CAT will provide the same great experience, there will also be some exciting changes — including a new destination on the American side!

A Reunion of Old Friends

Throughout The CAT’s history, it has connected the United States to Canada and Maine to Nova Scotia. And while we’ve been apart for a little while, the time has finally come for a reunion between friendly neighbours. In 2022, The CAT will feature a new port on the American side, with afternoon departures from beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine.

If you love coastal beauty and small-town charm, you’ll love Bar Harbor. It’s also the fastest way into Acadia National Park, where you can explore nearly 50,000 acres of wilderness and 158 miles of hiking trails. Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the east coast of the United States, is in the heart of the park. It’s the perfect spot to catch unbelievable views of the sunrise over the ocean and surrounding islands.

On the Nova Scotia side, Yarmouth is the gateway to the Acadian Shores. Home to iconic lighthouses and rich histories of Mi’kmaq and Acadian cultures, it has a deep-rooted tradition of welcoming visitors to Nova Scotia. It’s a great place to start your journey through Canada’s Ocean Playground.
